Esteban Cureno
August 29, 1955 – January 21, 2021
Esteban Cureno of Farmington, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 21 st at the age of 65.
Esteban was a loving father who was proud of his children and encouraged them in their passions. He had a zest for life and never knew a stranger. He was raised in Mexico and moved to California at age 19.
He loved boxing, hunting, fishing, dancing, and laughing. He loved children and animals and had a special bond with them. He was also a nature lover and loved gardening and flowers. Esteban was athletic and played handball at Venice Beach for many years. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for people.
Esteban was kind, enjoyed giving gifts and sharing what he had with anyone in need. Later in life, he met Debra in Las Vegas and soon after moved to Minnesota to be with her. Esteban and Debra took great pleasure in traveling to many cities throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Their favorite times were when his kids visited from California or joined them on vacation. Esteban loved going fishing in Minnesota lakes and rivers, and off the coast of Florida and Cape Cod.
He was preceded in death by daughter Stephanie; father Alfredo; brothers Enrique, Vicente, and Jose; and many family pets.
He is survived by his partner Debra Kosch; children Steven Cureno III, Adam Cureno Marentez (Claudia), Alfredo Cureno and Jazmine Cureno; mother Maria Enriqueta “Quetita”; sisters Andrea, Francisca (Roberto), Enriqueta (Aaron), and Josefina (Moises); brothers Alfredo (Maria), Martin and Alfonso (Fabiola); sisters-in-law Yolanda and Raquel; beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends in the U.S.
and in Mexico and his dog Stella.
A private gathering to honor his life will be held later this summer.
