Jerold Thomas Hahn
April 12, 1937 – January 22, 2021
Age 83, of St. Paul, MN Passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2021. Born April 12, 1937 in Chicago, IL to John Irwin Hahn and Anna Josephine Gray. Longtime resident on Raymond Avenue in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood. Graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago 1955. US Army service 1956-59. Trained as a Voice Interceptor and Russian language specialist. Served in Berlin. Graduated from the University of Illinois in 1962 with a degree in Forestry. Master’s degree University of Minnesota 1964. Worked for the U.S. Forestry service for thirty years specializing in the measurement and survey of the U.S. forests. Stationed at the research station on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus from the mid 1960’s until his retirement in 1996. Married to Kathleen Ellen Osborne in Naperville, IL March 25, 1961. Members of the St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ for many years. All of their children attended Murray Jr. High School, St. Paul Central High School and the University of Minnesota. Jerry loved classical music, traveling, woodworking, reading, fine food and his wife Kathi. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathi, and their infant twins J.W. and J.T. Hahn. Survived by three children Jillian (Barry) Ierien, Jeffrey (Leah) Hahn and Jenne (Tory Kielbasa) Hahn; grandchildren, Rory, Natalie & Margaret Ierien and James, Katie, Lydia & Matthew Hahn. Private family internment will take place at Prairie Oaks Memorial Eco Garden in Inver Grove Heights, MN in the Spring. (Published in the Pioneer Press on January 31, 2021)
