Jon Scott Cashin

April 19, 1955 – January 10, 2021
Age 65 of Montrose, died at home from cancer on January 11, 2021. Jon was preceded in death by parents James and Darlyene and brothers Lyle, Greg and Tommy. He is survived by his lifelong love and partner, Deborah Cashin, and his children Josh Quandt (Andrea), Chris Cashin (Emily) and grandsons Aidan, Isaac and Charlie. Born in Minneapolis, Jon lived on and around Lake Minnetonka for most of his life. He loved boating, snowmobiling, skiing and playing darts with his buddies. He was a Vikings fan and never missed watching a game. When the Twins won their first World Series, he was there and lucky enough to be in the locker room for the postgame celebration. He also had a deep interest in history, especially WWII, and was still watching documentaries in his final days. Jon worked in manufacturing and sales during his younger years; but his favorite job came after he retired, working for UPS delivering packages during the holidays. He got real joy from seeing people smile when he brought their packages to the door. Jon’s unique sense of humor kept all the people around him smiling and laughing. He was full of excitement, and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his many friends and relatives. A celebration of life will be scheduled later when we all can safely be together. (Published in the Star Tribune on January 17, 2021)
