Mary Jane “MJ” Schreiner

Mary Jane “MJ” Schreiner

October 22, 1932 – December 15, 2020
Formerly of Fridley and Sun City West, AZ. MJ passed on the 15th of December to go home to the Lord. MJ was a fiercely independent, accomplished, and fun-loving woman who had quite the full life. MJ graduated from Hamline University and set out on her journey. She married Hubert Schreiner and they had 3 children, all attending Fridley Schools. She was a Fridley School Board member in the 60’s and served for 14 years. MJ was a survivor of the 1965 tornados. After Hubert’s passing, she made ends meet while working outside of the home and doing taxes for numerous clients and friends. She loved a good political debate! She was also a life-long member of the DFL party; her highlight was when Hubert Humphrey landed by helicopter at Logan Park to support Bill Nee for mayor. She turned to Real Estate sales and did very well until she decided to retire and move to Sun City West with the love of her life, Milt Mathias. MJ and Milt were active members of Advent Episcopal Church in Sun City West. After Milt’s passing, she decided to move back to Minnesota to be closer to her family. She is survived by daughters Pauline (Pat) Samuelson and Lee Ann (Dave) Bacon, son Corbin (Mary) Schreiner, her sister, Arlene Hruska, Grandchildren Jessica (Pat) Webb, Sean (Marit) Woulfe, Brandon Bacon, and Nathan (Chelsea) Bacon, and Great Grandchildren Brooklyn Bacon, Peyton Webb, Kennedy Webb and Henryk Woulfe. Memorials to American Cancer Society or Hamline University in Mary Jane’s honor. (Published in the Star Tribune on January 3, 2020)
