Carl “Larry” Kavolak

Age 78 of Blaine, formerly of New Brighton, Park Rapids, and Venice, Fla., passed away December 4, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Susan Kavolak, and sister, Chris. Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathie; his son Mark (Molly) Kavolak of New Brighton; his daughter Kristin (Rich) Sharp of Maple Grove; and his grandchildren Nathan, Michael, William, Alex and Connor. He also is survived by his sister Carol, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was a caring and giving soul who poured his heart into everything he did. A dedicated teacher and principal for 33 years in the Columbia Heights school district. Retirement gave Larry more time for his love of golf, spending time at the cabin and wintering in Florida. He was an avid reader and a welcoming man who enjoyed a conversation on just about any topic. Larry was a loving father, husband and grandfather who was so proud of his family. The immediate family is holding a closed ceremony. A celebration-of-life gathering will be hosted at a later date.
