Russell Daniel Angus
June 9, 1945 – November 30, 2020
Age 75 of St. Paul. Russ is survived by Anna, loving wife of 41 years; son Daniel; daughter Jessica (Josh) Feit; brothers David Angus and Keith Christy; grandchildren William and Olivia Feit; nieces, nephews and friends.
Russ was preceded in death by his father Douglas Angus and his mother Vera Christy and stepfather Earl Christy, and his infant daughter Nora. He lost his previous wife Linda, their daughter Stacy and her three children in a house fire. His son Msgt Brett Angus was killed 11/26/2005 in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Russ served in the Army during the Vietnam War. In the tradition of his maritime Madeline Island ancestors, he became a riverboat captain. Upon retirement, he worked for the Eastside Neighborhood Development Company (ESNDC) and was a former member of the District 5 City Council and Zoning Committee. He delivered flowers parttime until he retired from that. He was a moderator for the EA for many years and happily passed the torch. Many thanks to Riverwind, Paolo, and the rest of the administration of the EA for working with him.
Russ spent the last two years of his life traveling with his wife Anna as the passenger in the sidecar of Anna’s Ural motorcycle. Together they traveled throughout Minnesota and surrounding states. He was able to enjoy one last time the Gales of November in Duluth MN, an event he attended for many years.
Russ was a kind, loving man with a wicked sense of humor and a hearty laugh. His stories will live on forever through all those he entertained them with. He was knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics and had a keen interest in learning. He had a positive impact on everyone who knew and loved him, and they will have their own stories to tell of their adventures with the Captain. He will be sorely missed.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to do so, memorials are preferred to St. Paul Children’s Hospital.
