Gregory Jerome Olson

Age 70 of Minneapolis, passed away under the exceptional care of the Minneapolis VA at the age of 70. Greg was born in Minneapolis, MN where he was raised in a family of 10 children. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam War before returning home to Minneapolis. In 1976, he married Catherine Wagner. Much of their free time was devoted to camping, canoeing, and playing softball and broomball. After giving birth to 3 children, the family moved to Annandale, MN. For many years, Greg worked as a dispatcher at Red Owl/Supervalu. He found joy traveling the open roads during his second career as an over-the-road truck driver. Greg enjoyed sports, history, and recreating in the great outdoors with family and friends. One of his last acts in life was to proudly vote via absentee ballot in the 2020 election. Greg will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by parents Clair and Eileen Olson; and siblings Raymond Olson, Nancy Berg, Carol Lynch, Joleen Larsen, and Rosemary Olson. Survived by: children Heidi Tague, Anders Olson (Rebecca Lahr), and Rebekka (Jon) Krug; grandchildren Noah and Peter Tague, Hannah and Ryan Krug; siblings Judy (Gary) Shuneson, Sue (Dick) Verness, Jim (Barb) Olson, and Barb Olson; brother-in-law Chuck Lynch; and sister-in-law Anne Olson. Greg is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private interment at Fort Snelling to be scheduled in 2021.
