Mary Patricia Monahan (Turgeon)

Age 92 of Minneapolis, passed away on September 11, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by husband Thomas Monahan, Jr. (Monahan’s Bakery, NE Mpls.), parents, William and Ethel Turgeon, brother William, sisters Jeannie Turgeon and Adrienne Brown, sister-in-law Dorothy Graff, and son-in-law Tony Jordan. Survived by children, Patricia Monahan (Ron), Jeannie Jordan (Tony), Larry Monahan (Maureen), grandchildren, Gina, Jennifer, Caitlin, Ryan and Thomas, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law Joseph Monahan, cousins Marie and Pat Heiges, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a graduate of St. Margaret’s Academy, and the first female charter member of the downtown Minneapolis YMCA. She loved being a mother and grandmother, and charmed everyone with her wonderful sense of humor, kindness and love of life. She was the family historian and photographer, and a master of limericks and practical jokes. Mary loved decorating, making homemade pizza, and especially the family’s annual 4th of July celebration in Forest Lake. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to be part of her life. A celebration of Mary’s amazing life to be held next summer, 2021. (Published in the Star Tribune on September 20, 2020)
