Deborah Anne Durkin

Deborah Anne Durkin

December 29, 1949 – September 1, 2020
St. Paul native Deborah A. Durkin left her earthly self behind on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. She was brilliant, kind, caring, and wickedly funny. The world was a much better place with her in it. Deborah attended St Luke’s Elementary, was a graduate of The Convent of Visitation and earned a BA from Metro State. She was dedicated to her work at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She then earned her Masters of Public Health from the University of Minnesota and continued her career at the Minnesota Department of Health. Deborah was an avid gardener, hiker, traveler, and lover of animals. She was called to serve, always finding ways to help others. She is survived by her daughter, other family members and many dear friends. Grateful thanks to HCMC Hospice for their wonderful care. Memorials to Friends of the St. Paul Public Library, Planned Parenthood of Minnesota or Second Harvest. Reading, reproductive freedom and feeding people were three of her many passions! Most of all, Deborah would want us all to be kind and caring to each other and those in need. (Published in the Star Tribune on September 13, 2020)
