Dennis Lee Potter

July 14, 1940 – August 12, 2020
On Aug. 12, 2020 at the age of 79, Dennis won the battle to heaven. He was born in Ida Grove, IA to parents Herbert and Garnet in 1941. Dennis is survived by his devoted wife Trude of 54 years; daughter Jessica (Roger) Fritzlar of TX; Jackie (Max) Kolstad of AR; younger brother Gary (Barbara) Potter and five grandchildren: Andrew (Kelly) Potter; Melissa, Matthew Fritzlar; Parker, Lainey Kolstad. Upon graduating from Anoka High School in 1959, he proudly served his country, United States Navy, for 4 years in Japan. Dennis then graduated from St. Cloud State with a double major in Math and Business Management with a minor in Computer Science. Throughout his career, he was with Burroughs Corp., General Mills, Lutheran Brotherhood and retired from Thrivent in 2007. In 1966 he married Trude and they moved to his hometown of Anoka, MN where they raised their family. He was involved in Two Rivers Boat Club, A Club, and with Lord of Life friends. Dennis also enjoyed photography, volleyball, boating, fishing, gardening, Caribbean travel and watching the Vikings. Dennis was an exceptional man of great faith; kind, gentle, incredibly intelligent with a keen sense of humor. He was surrounded by a vast network of beloved friends and family and lived a long, happy life, empty of regret. However, Parkinson’s is a powerful enemy that he could no longer take on. A family celebration of life is planned. Future celebrations with friends TBD. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to: Heartland Hospice Care North, 1257 2nd Street N., Sauk Rapids, MN 56379.
