Age 99 died peacefully surrounded by family at her daugh-ter’s home in Minnetonka on May 14, 2020. Rose was born on August 25, 1920 in Benld, Illinois. She was a first-generation Croatian-American born to Marko and Ana Rose Arlesic. She met her husband, John P. Heck at Southern Illinois Univer-sity. They were married at Camp Adair, Oregon, on January 9, 1943 during World War II. Together they had 7 children. Rose was a devoted and caring mother who fostered a love of education and a strong sense of social responsibility. She loved reading and had an avid interest in national and state politics. She loved her family dearly and took special joy in her 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Helen Lang and her children John (Nancy), Mark (Peggy), Rita (Michael) DeWane, Joseph, Luke (Noriko), Christopher (Cathy), Maria (Mark) Ruud and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings Mary, Joseph, Michael, Eve, and Anne. Rose had a deep faith and freely offered her blessings and prayers for those she loved and those in need. She would often say, “May the spirit of God go before you to make safe, happy, and successful your way.” An online memorial service will be held for family and friends.
