Cecilia A. Sandstede (née Holz)

March 11, 1932 – May 16, 2020
Age 88, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2020 at Heritage of Edina. She died of heart failure. Cecilia was born March 11, 1932 in Winona, MN to Henry and Lena Holz. She graduated from High School in Winona, and married George L. Sandstede March 8, 1952. They had a son, Leonard Henry Sandstede, born in 1952. The family lived in several Minnesota towns as George managed town hardware stores. Places of residence included Winona, Eau Claire, Waseca, Owatonna, Currie, Good Thunder, Jackson, Wayzata and Edina. Cecilia met her husband roller skating and every summer the family vacationed outdoors, camping and hiking. She enjoyed crafts of all sorts including various kinds of puzzles. She also made paintings, decorations and models of ships and airplanes. She was a life-long Catholic. Cecilia is survived by her daughter-in-law Kay Ulrich of St. Louis Park; niece Sue (Joel) Thompson of Winona; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. She is predeceased by her husband George (March 18, 2005); son Leonard Henry Sandstede (September 13, 2013); and siblings: Dorothy Overing, (March 9, 2011); Henry “Hap” Holz (January 16, 2016) & Edward Holz (Feb. 26, 1993) There will be a private family service.
