Dorothy Alta Gustafson (née Tammeus)
February 17, 1936 – May 11, 2020
Dorothy Gustafson passed away peacefully at home on 05/11/2020, while listening to Amazing Grace. Dorothy was raised on a farm near Fulda, MN. She loved outdoor chores. She was proud of being a hard worker, and would often outpace the boys her same age. Dorothy married Michael Gustafson on 11/20/1965. Before they bought a house they began to build a cabin. Mike and Dorothy did most of the work on the cabin themselves. They made a great team. Many wonderful summers were spent on Knife Lake. Watching the kids swim, going fishing and having daily outdoor cookouts over the open fire pit. They bought their house in Fridley, MN in 1969 and stayed until 2003 when they moved to Andover, MN. Dorothy worked as an Accountant for 50 years. Working part time after the kids were born and returning to full time as they got older. When Grandchildren came along she semi-retired to stay with them while their parents worked. Scott, Carla and Kurt feel fortunate to have had such an amazing Mom. A gentle soul, while also a fierce advocate for her family. Her kindness spread joy to all she touched. Dorothy absolutely loved being a Grandma. She enjoyed spending time with Amber. Adam. Jake and Dylan more than anything. Every week Dorothy hosted a Sunday Brunch. Typically she would make an outstanding home cooked meal for the whole family, or Mike and Dorothy would treat the entire family to a restaurant buffet.
