Fay Wilma Harrison (née Allen)

Age 95 of Spring Park. Was born on September 10, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN and died on April 25, 2020. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from Metropolitan State University. A good portion of her time, effort, persistence and enthusiasm were directed outside the home. She worked at the Minneapolis Urban League, Guthrie Theater, and Control Data. While at Control Data, she assisted in laying the groundwork for the formation of Minneapolis Children’s Hospital (now Children’s Minnesota) and became president of its Grandparents Club. She was involved in many organizations including the League of Women Voters, Minneapolis Mayor’s Senior Advisory Committee, Senior Center of Minneapolis, and Community Action. She was a lifetime member of the NAACP. She became a national delegate and attended an inaugural ball for President Bill Clinton. She was proud to have lived long enough to vote for a black president. She had a profound belief that the foundation of our society is equal treatment under the law. She had a kindred progressive spirit. She is survived by sister, Mary; children: Allen, Sharon (Michael Galegher), Mary (Jeffrey Tate), and Channing; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
