Alan Sias Waugh

Alan Sias Waugh

August 14, 1953 – April 22, 2020
Age 66 of Richfield. Alan left us gently at 7:20 am on 4/22/2020 amidst the peace of loved ones. Cancer took his body; his spirit remains to guide and strengthen us. Those guarding his memory most closely are his wife, Hilary Kathryn Greene; son, Matthew Sias Waugh and grandson, Liam Daniel Waugh of Boston; daughter, Sarah Jeanette Moretsky (Mike) of Minneapolis; sister, Susan Sias Waugh of St. Louis; and his “Bonus Daughters”, Kate Bean (Dave) of North Branch; Emily Greene Vicker of NYC and Jessica Kathryn Vicker of Minneapolis. Alan was predeceased by parents, Richey Laughlin Waugh Jr. and Jeanette Sias Waugh and his brother, Stephen Sias Waugh. Alan enhanced – and often saved – the lives of hundreds of mental health and substance abuse clients across the country using his clinical skills, sensitivity and lived experience. Alan loved dogs, fires, Civil War history, road trips, horses, The Beatles, Abraham Lincoln, reading, the moon, the ocean, Eric Clapton, swimming, his garden, mountains and peacemaking. If you wish, memorials may be made to namimn.org or animalhumanesociety.org. A gathering to honor Alan will be held when the world is healthier. Farewell Alan. Thank you for so lovingly sharing your life with us. Serenity – Courage – Wisdom (Published in the Star Tribune on April 29, 2020)
