Maryann Pierson (née Tormanen)

September 10, 1937 – April 18, 2020
Age 82 of Blaine, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 18, 2020. Maryann “Mia” was born on September 10th, 1937 in Cokato, Minnesota and was the youngest of 12 children. Mia was a loving Mother to three children, Jeff Erickson (Jan), Lew Erickson (Sue), & Cherie Olson (Tony). A lifelong Minnesota native, Mia worked at Honeywell while raising her family in Fridley before retiring with her husband Richard Pierson at their lake home in Aitken. Mia loved life at the lake where she spent her time gardening, feeding the birds, and playing with her many dogs. Mia was an active member of her church (Glory Baptist of Aitken, MN) and enjoyed spending time with her many close relatives, friends, and neighbors. Mia’s greatest love was her family. She was the proud Grandmother of 20 and Great Grandmother of 19 children. Mia loved hosting her family at her lake home where boating, fishing, and playing with her many outdoor “toys” were thoroughly enjoyed by all. So many fond memories were created at “Grandma Mia’s House.” Mia is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard and preceded in death by her 11 siblings and three grandchildren Joseph, Sonja and Lynnzi. A Celebration of Mia’s Life will be held in her honor and announced at a later date. (Published in the Star Tribune on April 22, 2020)
