Dustin John Smith

Dustin John Smith

January 25, 1988 – April 6, 2020
Age 32 of Golden Valley, passed away from a short and courageous battle with bile duct cancer. Dustin and his twin suffered from a rare in utero condition called twin to twin transfusion. He always surprised doctors and surpassed their expectations. His life was a miracle, God has a purpose for everyone and Dustin’s life truly has touched so many people. He held a special place in everyone’s heart who met him. His contagious laugh, infectious smile, and genuine presence is something unforget-table. He led a life of innocence, truly an angel on earth, and now he is an angel looking over each and every one of us. He was someone who helped people figure out who they were and who they wanted to be. Dustin changed so many people’s lives for the better; he pushed people in a positive direction; and brought out care, empathy, and compassion in all of us. He graduated from Orono High School in 2006. Dustin is survived by his parents, Gary & Teresa Smith; brothers, twin Brandon Smith, Patrick Smith (Destiny), Noah Smith & nephews Lennon & Rowan; grandparents, Nancy Smith, Harold and Mary McWilliams & Leo and Janet Johnson; many aunts, uncles, cousins & other family and friends. Preceded in death by his grand-father, Thomas Smith. We are grateful for all the compassionate caregivers throughout his life and the wonderful care he received from the staff at Homeward Bound for the last 11 years. A celebration of his life will be determined at a later date. (Joshua 1:9). (Published in the Star Tribune on April 12, 2020)
