Holly, Marjorie Maxine (Mattila Coleman)

Age 80 of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2020. Marjory graduated from the Minneapolis School of Art, now known as MCAD. She started out her career as an animator for the Bajus-Jones Film Corp in Edina, MN. She later went on to work in the offices of the Dayton-Hudson Corp. downtown. During all these years she developed a passion for historic architecture and craftsmanship, she worked diligently to preserve the Healy Block in South Minneapolis. Her efforts in preservation earned her a place in the Midtown Greenway as part of the “Community Leader Portraits” on Fourth Ave. South. Marjory was an activist, animator, and avid house painter. Preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Ted Coleman of Clara City, MN., (ex Walter M). Survived by husband Peter Holly; sister Nancy Rice; son Mark Mattila (Carrie); daughter Mercedes Austin (Arlen); and 5 grandchildren. A private immediate family burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of a formal service, in her memory, Marjory wishes for you to take a chance on speaking up, thinking outside the box, find your passion, and be creative, paving your own path in life however that looks.
