Marshall, Barry Potter
March 4, 1946 – December 31, 2019
Barry Potter Marshall of Wailea, HI and Wayzata, Mn passed away peacefully at English Rose Suites in Edina, MN on December 31, 2019 due to complications related to Lewy Body Dementia.
Barry was born March 4, 1946 as the son of Nathaniel and Gloria (Potter) Marshall. He lived a full life experiencing nearly all it has to offer, especially his three passions including music, skiing, golfing and boating, all of which he shared unselfishly with his family and friends. He enjoyed backcountry heli skiing, captaining his own boat with his first mate and wife, Susan (Cole) Marshall to Alaska and playing one of his eight guitars whenever he found a spare moment. Barry was always willing to share his sense of adventure with his family and friends, including river rafting trips down the Grand Canyon and kayaking in the Pacific with his children and grandchildren. Even within twelve months of his passing, he made his final ski runs in Park City with his children and anyone who knew him, knows there is no place he would have rather been. He was always available for a friend or family member in need of advice and had a lifetime of wisdom which he shared impactfully and often with his own dry sense of humor.
Barry dreamt of being a professional musician, but when that option seemed not to work out, he followed the advice, which he so often gave out and “figured it out”. Professionally, he spent nearly his entire career with TCI cable and ultimately rose to the role of Chief Operating Officer, working for the company over the years in California, Washington and, finally, Colorado. He was a graduate of Colorado College and later served on their Board of Trustees.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susan, 49 years. He is survived by his sister, Carol Hope of Enumclaw, WA, his son, Todd Marshall of Holladay, UT and his daughter, Jesscia Casebolt of Edina, MN. He is survived by his four grandchildren (Cole, Payton, Luke and Tanner) and two step-grandchildren (Ellie and Jack). A memorial service in Kirkland, WA is planned for February 6, 2020 at the Woodmark Hotel from 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you make a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. He is sorely missed by his family and appreciate your support.
