Stefanick, Orest “Butch”Lawrence

August 18, 1930 – October 28, 2019
Age 89 of Blaine, formerly of Deerwood, passed away peacefully, Mon. Oct 28, 2019, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by parents Peter & Annie. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen (Tauzell), children: Gregg (Diane) Stefanick, Susan (Brad) Dutson, & Diane Marie Stefanick, grandchildren Abby & Jenna Dutson, siblings: Adeline Roehl, Rose Marie Cavanaugh & Richard Stefanick. Beginning at age 15, Butch began working for Advanced United trucking, retiring with over 40 years of service. During that time, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1987, Butch retired and they moved to their newly constructed lake-home near Deerwood, MN. Many friendships were formed and he was able to pursue his passion as an avid outdoorsman. Scores of hunting & fishing trips to Alaska, Canada, Colorado and various Minnesota destinations occurred over the next 30 years. Butch loved to meet up with family & friends, pull a few tabs, and have “a bump” of Lord Calvert with his MGD. As part of recognizing a life well lived, a “Celebration of Life” will be held Sat. Nov 16th, at the Ironton, MN, Legion, Post 443, from 1-4 pm. (Published in the Star Tribune November 10, 2019)
