Midge was born in Havre, Montana and moved to Minneapolis with her family when she was 12. She was a graduate of Washburn High School class of 1947. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in English. She always retained her fondness for Montana and spent several summers working the hotels in Glacier National Park during her college years. Midge loved travel, touring Europe with a student group in the years right after WWII. After college she started a career with Northwest Airlines, in the early days of commercial aviation, before meeting Rod and settling down to raise a family. Along with raising her family, she was very active and her passions in life included golf, skiing, camping, and other outdoor activities with her family. Later in life she was introduced to curling and became a very active and competitive senior women’s curler with the Arden Hills Curling Club for over three decades. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. (Published Star Tribune April 28, 2019.)
