Evenson, Marlys Kay

Age 75 of Golden Valley, passed away May, 17, 2019. She was born in Drayton, ND on August 10, 1943. She graduated from Drayton Public School in 1961 then moved to California where she was employed by Northwestern Bell in San Diego and at Disneyland. She transferred with Bell to Minneapolis where she later was a clerk supervisor to be closer to family. After taking early retirement from Bell, she was employed by General Mills and then an eyeglass company. Marlys loved fun, family, and her dogs. She enjoyed quilting, making porcelain dolls, shopping for toys and gifts for her nieces and nephews (her “kids”), and fishing at the Northwest Angle with the Evenson clan. She was a devoted daughter and spent vacations helping her parents in Drayton. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Marjorie (Long) Evenson; sisters, Gloria Nelson, Patricia Anderson, & Geraldine Evenson; brothers, George Darrel and Robert; brother-in-laws, Harris Anderson and Norman Nelson. She is survived by her sister Leona (Dale) Edblom, San Diego, CA, and brothers, James (Joan) Evenson, Grand Forks, ND and Eldred (Buck) (Penny) Evenson, Prior Lake, MN, sister-in-law, Delores Evenson, East Grand Forks, MN, many nieces and nephews, and her dog, Suri. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Drayton, ND with interment in the Drayton Cemetery.
