Campbell, James Arthur
July 20, 1946 – November 21, 2018
Age 72 of Saint Paul. Beloved Husband, Father and Papa James Arthur Campbell, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 21, 2018, in the early hours of the morning after a courageous battle with leukemia. Preceded in death by parents Wilford and Rosetta, stepfather Earl, sister Phyllis and brothers Dale and Richard. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years Sandra (Gruetzman) and children Beth (Steve) Tubbs, Brad (Sara) Campbell and Amy (Nick) Campbell-Davis, along with his grandchildren Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, Madison, Tyler, Breanna, Natalie and Matthew. He was born in Rice Lake WI and moved to St. Paul MN. He was a graduate of Johnson High School and always a strong Governors supporter. He was a Vietnam veteran, proudly serving his country in the Army’s 101st Airborne. Jim retired from the US Post Office after a long career as a dispatcher. He loved his family with all his heart and spent many days attending grandchildren’s sporting, play, or dance events, providing love and the occasional piece of advice. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and golfing. We are grateful for all the love, time and stories we were able to share and the memories we were able to make with him along the way!! He had a kind word for many and was always willing to lift a beer to you – he will have a bar stool waiting for us all the next time we meet. Special Thanks to the staff of Our Lady of Peace Hospice for providing love, care and support in his final days. Our sincerest appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and social workers at Regions Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Minnesota. Interment at Fort Snelling and a Celebration of his life to be announced at a later date. (Published in the Pioneer Press on Nov. 25, 2018).
