Age 70 of Shoreview. Florence (Flo) Delois Stafford died on August 26, 2018 at her home in Shoreview, MN after fighting a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Flo worked with Ramsey county as a social worker for almost 20 years after graduating from North Carolina A&T, where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta. Flo moved to the Twin Cities in ’71, where she married Pompey and started a family. She enjoyed travelling and learning about other cultures. She retired in 2014 and spent more time with family and friends. In the latter years of retirement, she did “virtual” travel with cable TV, and became immersed in learning how to make homes comfortable yet aesthetically organized. Flo is preceded in death by her son (AkoBaye) and is survived by her husband of 47 years, Pompey Stafford, her son, Abebi Stafford and step-daughter, Beulah B. Shaw (Charles), brothers Willie Jones, Donald Berry, sister Angeline Jordan, and grandchildren Jackson Shaw, and Kaiya, Jaydn, Masio, Sefu, Isleia and Solana Stafford. Flo’s Celebration of Life will take place on Sept. 7 at Progressive Baptist Church, 1505 Burns Avenue – St. Paul. Visitation is at 10 AM, followed by services at 11 AM; luncheon at noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation is preferred to the St. Thomas Academy AkoBaye Stafford Scholarship Fund www.saint thomasacademy.com. Her ashes will be spread on her son’s grave at Fort Snelling Cemetery and her mother’s grave in Winston-Salem, NC. (Published in the Pioneer Press on September 2, 2018).
