Age 67, of Bloomington, MN, passed away at Our Lady of Peace Hospice and Home Care on May 23, 2018. He was born on January 21, 1951 to the Rev. Tauno and Ellie Jarvinen in Ilwaco, WA. Due to his father’s profession as a pastor who served various Lutheran congregations, Roland attended schools in Minnesota, Michigan, Canada, and Ohio. He graduated from Warren Western Reserve High School in Warren, Ohio in 1972. He moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1973, where he lived and worked since then. His last employment was as a personal care attendant for a quadriplegic man. The family has been astounded by his good memory for people, faces, phone numbers, addresses, family birthdays, and anniversaries. He had a good singing voice, enjoyed making puns, and drawing cartoons. After becoming fascinated with 3-D art, Roland enjoyed many hours of producing his own 3-D outer-space artwork. Roland belonged to Gateway Church, Burnsville, MN (formerly Jesus Is Lord Church). He accepted Jesus as Savior in his teens at Deeper Life Camp week at Medicine Lake in the 1960s. He had a strong faith in Jesus and read his Bible every morning and evening.Roland is survived by his 92 year old mother, Ellie Jarvinen of Cortland, Ohio; three sisters, Linda (Paul) Diamantopoulos, Morgantown, PA, Adina (Paul) Coomes, Indianapolis, IN, Grace (Chris) Neuberger, Cortland, OH; one brother Nathan (Nancy) Jarvinen, Chicago, IL; and one sister-in-law, Lynn Angebranndt, Sylmar, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Tauno Jarvinen and his brother Arthur Jarvinen. Memorial tributes may be submitted to Gateway Church, 609 W.
