Fredrickson, Arnold Gerhard
April 11, 1932 – November 27, 2017
Age 85 of Minneapolis. Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota School of Chemical Engineering. Arnie spent his entire career at the University, a much loved and respected colleague and teacher. After he retired, he took his tripod and cameras and hit the road, photographing wildflowers and birds all over the US and Canada. He had a rich life, was interested in just about everything, loved his family and friends and still had all of his formidable smarts right to the end. Arnie was predeceased by his parents, Gerhard and Anna, his three older brothers, Jerry, Ronnie and Neal and his niece, Cindy Kragness. He is survived by his nieces Jenny (Culver) Adams, Pam (Lynn James) Gunderson, Debby (Bill) Crowley, Kris (Dale) Kerber, Cindy’s husband Gene, their families, long-time companion, Dorothy Bohn and a large circle of good friends. His ashes will be buried beside his parents and brothers at Minneola Church, near Wanamingo, MN, where he was born and raised. Arnie said he didn’t want a funeral, but a celebration of his life is being discussed. If you’re so inclined, memorials could be directed to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a place he loved dearly. (Published in the Star Tribune on December 2, 2017).
