Ewing, Richard Melville
April 19, 1938 – May 15, 2018
Age 80 of New Hope. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and devoted friend peacefully passed away surrounded by family on May 15th, 2018. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Melville and Pearl Ewing and brother Dayton Ewing. He is survived by his wife, Jane Ewing; sons James Ewing (Michelle), Theodore (Melinda) Ewing, Wade (Nicole) Ewing; grandchildren, Dr. Michael (Lauren) Ewing, Chelsea (Dr. David) Christopherson, Kendal, Griffin and Quinn Ewing, Joseph and Jack Ewing. Richard’s family, friends, and his love for Jesus were his passion. Richard was born April 19, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated in 1957 from Patrick Henry High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He was very proud of his four year tour of duty in the United States Coast Guard. He met his wife of 55 years in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They settled in Minneapolis in 1962. Richard was employed at Control Data for 34 years. Richard was an Elder and Deacon of Berean Evangelical Free Church for many of his adult years. His love of Jesus carried him and was always a part of his life. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Church, 4225 Gettysburg Avenue N. New Hope, Minnesota 55428. Visitation Thursday 5/24/18 10:00am, Service 11:00am, with lunch immediately following. Interment at Fort Snelling Cemetery, Tuesday 5/29/18 at 10:30am, line #4. Memorials preferred to family. (Published in the Star Tribune on May 20, 2018).
