Bates, Dorothy Mary (nee Hilger)
July 29, 1928 – August 17, 2018
Age 90 of Vadnais Heights, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Aug. 17, 2018 at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard. Survived by children Howard (Vickie), Richard, Susan, David and Gregg. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was our families’ guiding light. Mom showed us how to persist despite what life might throw at us. Our first lesson in that was when dad died. We watched as she was left to raise 5 kids from ages 12 to 22. She did that with love, faith, style, and occasionally a big stick. One thing she never did was complain; it was not her way. We all love you mom, god speed your journey to heaven. We would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff on first floor at St. John’s hospital in Maplewood. They were all extremely professional and compassionate in assisting us during Dorothy’s passing. Visitation from 12:00 P.M. till 2:00. Memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Saturday Aug. 25,2018.
