August 5, 1969 – August 26, 2017
Age 48 of Saint Paul. Died of metastatic breast cancer on August 26. Born August 5, 1969, Camille lived a full life, sharing her incredible energy and beautiful smile with everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her mom L. Ernestine Sime, aunt Illeane Kline and cousin Sunny Forde. She is survived by husband Wade Scheel, daughter Vivian and son Jackson. She did not want to leave them so soon. She also is survived by cousins Nina (Bob) Muller, Michael (Ruth) Kline, Melissa (Uri) Camarena, Jeanne Lenertz, Monica (Mike) Wilm, Nancy (Stu) Gitis, and in-laws mother and father Beckie and Gene Scheel, siblings Kent, Mark (Barb) and Charlie “Carlene” (Jeanne) Scheel and many second cousins, nieces and nephews who felt more like siblings. An only child, Camille was always happy to find someone to play a board game. A cat lover, she was always happy to find a cat to snuggle. A voracious but thrifty reader, she had her public library card number memorized. She spent most of her career as a harpist and effective fundraiser for some of her favorite nonprofits. After her metastatic cancer diagnosis, she focused on advocacy. Her largest project was her book, Camp Chemo: Postcards Home from Metastatic Breast Cancer. Services will be held Saturday, September 9 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Camille Scheel Memorial Fund at YouCaring.com, Minnesota Public Radio or St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, St. Paul.
