Ryan, Edward Raymond

Age 91 of Bloomington, formerly of Milwaukee, Delafield & Dousman, WI Died peacefully January 7, 2017 in Bloomington, MN. Born February 18, 1925, raised in Milwaukee WI, graduate of both Marquette HS and University (’43), serving in the US Navy during WWII. He and loving wife Marguerite Sullivan enjoyed a 65 year marriage until her death in 2014. Survived by 3 children: Lynn of Arcata, CA, Patricia of St Paul, MN, and Edward III of Piercy, CA; 2 grandchildren: Kristin (David) Keil, and Beth Hannon; and 3 great grandchildren: Jacob, Rachel, and Zack Keil; sister Mary Adam of AZ; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by brother Daniel Ryan SJ, and sister Margaret Stowosser. Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; active in the Catholic Church throughout his life, serving as an usher into his 80’s; an entrepreneur of several Milwaukee underground construction companies over 50 years including Edward R Ryan Inc; a life-long athlete and teammate, playing formal basketball in high school; baseball; and decades of recreational basketball and racquetball, regularly winning state and national medals at the Senior Olympics into his mid-80’s. He enjoyed fishing, travel with wife Marge, and was an avid reader, especially in his later years. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Milwaukee, WI when his ashes will be buried next to Marguerite’s. (Published in the Pioneer Press on Feb. 12, 2016)
