Karlson, Richard Arnold
November 8, 1938 – September 30, 2017
Age 78 of Golden Valley. passed away peacefully on Saturday morning with his kids by his side and his beloved springer spaniel Mandy nearby. He had battled heart disease for several years. He played college football and threw the shot on his college track and field team. After college, he worked as a General Contractor then later as a Real Estate Agent/Broker. Rarely seen without a smile on his face or a dog by his side, Dick was a positive, optimistic person who loved the outdoors. Training bird dogs, riding horses, rollerblading or fishing at Lake of the Isles were some of his passions. He impacted kids as a youth hockey coach and supported his kids and grandkids in their extracurricular activities. He emphasized while being tough was sometimes necessary, being kind was always expected. He’s survived by brother John Karlson, his kids, Andrea Yesnes (Howard), Tom Karlson (Fatima Olive) and grandkids Elle and Mykenna Yesnes and Leelamoon Karlson, as well as his loyal friends, Joe Harding and Ken Nelson. A remembrance of his life will take place Sunday, October 8th, 4-6pm at the home of Andrea Yesnes: 12921 Woodbridge Trail, Minnetonka MN 55305. Please send memorials to: Petsloyal2vets.org an organization that trains rescue dogs from shelters to benefit veterans. (Published in the Star Tribune on October 5, 2017).
