Mariani, Mary Lenore (nee Bjorgen)

Age 76 of Wayzata, passed away of cancer on September 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace hospice in St. Paul. Born August 25, 1940 in Detroit Lakes to Oscar and Lenore Bjorgen, Mary was a graduate of Fergus Falls High School and the University of North Dakota and won the McKnight award for short stories. She taught English in New Underwood, SD and in Great Falls, MT before marrying college sweetie John Mariani of Hibbing. Married for 53 years, they raised Daniel, David, and Adair in happy homes in Moorhead, Minnetonka, and Deephaven. She was an upbeat person who loved doggies Lola & Luigi, reading, writing, and summers at Lake L’Homme Dieu. Most of all, her favorite passion was her family. She will be deeply missed by them for her quick wit, placid disposition, egg-in-the-nest, cheese in the clouds, kindness and stroganoff. Mary is survived by her husband John Mariani; son Daniel (Nancy) Mariani of Maple Grove; son David (Deanna) Mariani of Orono; daughter Adair (John Tritchler) of Maple Grove; grandchildren Dominic, Joseph, and Gianna. Mary is also survived by her brother Dr. John Bjorgen of Golden Valley. Funeral will be 11 am, Friday, September 9th at St. Therese Church of Deephaven.
