Age 71 of Somerset, WI, died Tuesday, January 12th, 2016, peacefully at his home. He was born February 28th, 1944 in Beadle County, SD, one of seven sons born to Darold and Evelyn (Parkinson) Tipton. Gary was married to Kay (Wendland) in 1964 in Redfield, SD (they divorced in 2009). In 1983 they moved to Vasa Township, MN where they raised their family. Gary worked for Nash Finch until his retirement in 2010. He managed the meat department at Warehouse Market (then Food Bonanza, then Econo-Foods) in Red Wing and finally for Econo-Foods in Somerset and New Richmond, WI. He married Jeanine (Bishop) in 2011 and spent the remainder of his days on their hobby farm in Gary had many passions in his life. He loved hunting, fishing, taxidermy, gardening and spending time with his family, but most important to him was his love of raising and caring for animals. He had a lifelong passion for horses and rodeo. He took great pride in raising Labrador Retrievers. He also spent more than 30 years raising sheep, swine, poultry and many other animals for 4H with his children. He is survived by his wife Jeanine; brothers Dale, Dennis, Dean, Delton, Bob and Doug; sons, Mike (Brenda) of Asheville, NC, Jeff (Anna) of Cannon Falls, MN, Gary Jr (Kristie) of Cannon Falls, MN, Jason (Amie) of Goodhue, MN and Tyler of Somerset, WI; daughters Carol (David) Shoultz of Ipswich, SD and Christie (Matt) Halverson of Hastings, MN and step-daughter Rose Bishop of Somerset, WI; former wife, Kay Tipton of Cannon Falls, MN; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darold and Evelyn Tipton and one infant daughter. Funeral Services will be held at First English Lutheran Church, in Cannon Falls, MN, on January 25, 2016 at 11:00 with a visitation one hour before.
