Syverson, Jay Bennett

Syverson, Jay Bennett

February 15, 1943 – November 6, 2015
Age 72 of Minneapolis. Devout Christian, avid golfer, favorite uncle, amazing brother, enthusiastic Republican and the funniest man in the room, died surrounded by family on November 6 at age 72. A graduate of Robbinsdale High School and the University of Minnesota, he recently moved back to Minneapolis. Dubbed The Nordic Prince on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade, he traded options and commodities for 40 years. Jay’s love of golf began with caddying at Golden Valley Country Club; he was assistant pro at the New Richmond (WI) Golf Club after college and proud of having played in the 1959 State High School Hockey Tournament. He is survived by sister, Karen Bowen of Minneapolis; nieces, Laura Daly (Mark); Jane Loechler; Susan Thompson (Mark); Beth Loechler; cousins Anne Woolsey, Susan Olsen (Ken) and “nephew,” Todd Medland. Arrangements for a Chicago memorial service are pending. (Published in the Star Tribune on November 8, 2015)
