Schmatz, Richard “Dick” Vernon
July 30, 1939 – October 29, 2014
Age 75 of Princeton, MN, was born on July 30,1939 in Princeton, MN to Raymond and Hazel (Bergeron) Schmatz. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Koppendrayer-Bouma in Princeton, MN on July 17, 1975. Dick worked as a mechanic for Fingerhut for more than twenty years and at Cohn-Feldman Manufacturing for five years. After a car accident in 1984 he became self-employed and did many jobs for the VA & FMHA until 1994 when he became disabled from a severe heart problem. Dick loved river fishing and deer hunting. He also spent a lot of time out at the family farm in his last years. Dick is survived by his wife Cindy of Princeton; two sons Jeffrey (Sandy) of Monticello and Ricky of St. Cloud; stepson Troy (Angela) Bouma of Clear Lake; eight grandchildren Stacy, Kassidy, Wesley, Charity, Ricky Jr., Ashley, Alyssa, and Alanna; three step-grandchildren Samuel, Adam and Ava; six great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Teigen, Cash, Kyle Jr., Kane, and Klide; sister Mary (Victor) Spiczka and brother-in-law Clifford Peterson all of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Bonnie Schultz and Marlys Peterson, and brother Vernon Schmatz.
