Age 84, of Roseville, MN passed away April 4, 2015. Preceded in death by parents Charles II and Genevieve and sister Elizabeth. Survived by his wife of 55 years Mary Kay; children Frances, Kathleen (Brian), Charles IV (Sherilyn), Genevieve (Bryan), Pauline, Thomas (Tristie), and Anthony; grandchildren Alethea, Amanda, Alex, Cara, Joshua, Mary, Ruby, Charles V, and Declan; great-grandchildren Jai’on, Jaiahna, Millian, and Sean; multiple foster children; and siblings James, Alice, Mary Clare, and Roy. A former U of M School of Public Health professor; he was a noted CIH. He had a strong commitment to social justice: active in homeless outreach, housing services, and food banking. Decades of running marathons inspired his children and grandchildren to engage in running and triathlons. He competed in two Ironman triathlons in his late 70s. Mass Friday 10 AM at St Lawrence Catholic Church/ Newman Center 1203 5th St SE, Mpls with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to People Incorporated Homeless Services, Newman Center, or Catholic Eldercare Day Program.
