Davis, Donald Eugene

June 17, 1950 – September 13, 2015
Age 65 of Brooklyn Park, entered the kingdom of Heaven on September 12, 2015 where he is, no doubt, rejoicing in the presence of his Lord, Christ Jesus. He is home! Don accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on April 6, 1985, and from that day forward he walked in unwavering faith despite facing many personal and medical challenges. He was devoted to his church, Living Word Christian Center, in Brooklyn Park, and his church family; Pastors Mac Hammond, DuWayne Peterson, and David Niznik; prayer partner, Erik Vakula; Rick Linde, Richard Quan, and other members of his usher team; members of his prayer group led by Jim Whalen; and many others over past 30 years. He would like to thank each and every person for their unfailing friendship. In Don’s words “God bless you for accepting me, challenging me when I needed it, and supporting me through the good times and the bad”. Don worked as custodian at Minnesota Rubber for 29.5 years before retiring 15 years ago due to his poor health. During his retirement, Don enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Packers and the Twins, fishing, attending church functions, and most of all, going out to lunch or dinner with his family and friends. Those who went before Don; his parents George & Marilyn Davis, his stillborn brother, his nephew Alan LePage, his cherished paternal grandparents, Roy & Virgie Davis, his uncle Bob Kuhn, his maternal grandparents, Ernie & Clara Horn, and his friend and mentor, Len Gravell, were there to welcome him home. Don is survived by his sister Peggy (Jeff) LePage, his nephews Scott (Jeanne) and Clint (Kim), and great nephews/nieces Jacob, Jordan, Cassie, & Bailey; several loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. Don would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Ray and Nicole Carlson P.A. for their excellent care over the years and the Methodist Hospice staff with an extra special thank you to Kathy Dery RN & Mary Vorpahl MSW for their support. He credited you for helping him to live out all his earthly days as full as they could be. God Bless you and the work you do. A celebration of Donnie’s life will occur on Thursday, September 24 at Living Word Christian Center, Visitation from 10-11, Service at 11, followed by lunch. Interment at Glen Haven Cemetery after lunch. In lieu of flowers, Don would prefer that you take a friend to lunch. (Published on September 20, 2015 in the Star Tribune)
