Merrill, Dorothea Monica (nee Meyer)
December 29, 1925 – April 22, 2014
Age 88 of Roseville. Beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana Dottie passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 22, 2014. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, George “Bud” Merrill. Born in Suring, WI, Dottie lived in Shawano, WI until moving to St. Paul with her mate for life in 1950. Dottie is survived by her children, Patti (Dean) Palmer, Bill (Dalene) Merrill, Barb (Jerry )Schloegel, and Jim Merrill; grandchildren, Austin Merrill, Joe (Jamie) Schloegel, Kirsten (Andy) Hahn, and Jessica Schloegel (fiancé Chad Reisner); great-grandchildren, Brennan & Violet Schloegel; sister Margie Graff, sister-in-law Carol Meyer, and many nieces and nephews. Dottie loved to bowl, golf, and garden. She was also a long-time member of the American Legion Auxilliary, Rosetown Unit 542, serving as President of Rosetown and later as President of the 4th District. Volunteer activities included counselor for Girl’s State, visits to the VA hospital, and the Auxilliary Annual Fall Fashion Show. Her time as Chaplain of the Rosetown Unit and the 4th District was very important to her. Dottie was a longtime parishoner at St. Odilia Church. She was the Membership chairman for the Council of Catholic Women and volunteered for many CCW functions. She particularly enjoyed doing the readings at the 5:00 p.m. Saturday mass. Please join the Merrill family for mass on Saturday, May 3, at 5:00 p.m. Prior to mass, the CCW will say the rosary in memory of our Mom at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel.
