Age 58 ~ Of St. Paul Passed away peacefully on April 23, 2013 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. JV was born in St. Paul on Sept. 13, 1954. He worked for years in the warehouse of The Sportsman’s Guide, but he was best known during his life as a brilliant drummer who was a part of many bands, including the 1970s local Twin Cities funk/soul/ R&B group The Band of Thieves. JV will be missed by his loving partner, Beverly Williamson; mother, Jackie (Rich) Osuna; father, Masedonio “Doe” Vasquez; children, Diego (Gaby) Vasquez, Tiana Darst, Alexis Vasquez and Alain Vasquez; sister Gena (Joseph) Vasquez-Garcia; half-sister Melissa Vasquez; nephew Joseph Garcia; and many other loving relatives and friends. A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of JV will be held on from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, April 29, at Thompson County Park’s Dakota Lodge, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul, Minn.
